This sweet and well-mannered Southern girl is quite the dearest thing!

Measuring 14 inches tall and 4 inches across the shoulders, she is hand and machine sewn out of natural homespun linen and hard stuffed with what feels like cotton batting.  She has got a wonderfully inked face that, I believe, is her second face as it is sewn and pinned over another.  Where it is pinned, the pins are so old and rusty that they do not want to budge – hence the “wrinkle” in her smile, which just adds to her charm.

She still wears her original underclothes, socks and sweet hand sewn leather slippers.  Her dress was in shreds, so she had to be re-dressed and the dress and cape I chose are “of the period” and actually help to “set off” her charming face.

She is in excellent condition with no holes, rips or tears but some signs of age, as one would expect for a gal of her stature.

It has been a long time since I’ve found a doll that “spoke” to me the she does.  She was purchased last fall from a dealer who had just cleaned out a house in the Richmond area of Virginia.  She’s all dressed for her journey to her new home!
