This piece has always been a favorite of mine.

The illustration on the box lid alone is wonderful: three cats watching a mouse peeking out of his hole with wide-eyed intensity.   Then you open the lid to reveal the prize inside: a game of dexterity.  The player must get both of the felt covered mice into the mouse hole at either end of the box that sits under the photo of the cat.  The object is to have them sit in their respective holes with their little pink noses sticking out.

The mice are made of felt and cardboard and each sits on a single ball bearing.  They still retain their red paper ears.  Printing on their undersides states that a patent is applied for.

As you can see from the photos, the interior box lid and the back of the box as well as the game field are all replete with advertising for Hall & Lyon, a Providence, RI   And Waltham, MA Druggist.  The box lid corner states that it is “Published by Buker Publishing Co., Prov, RI”

What can I say; it’s a fun piece.  Pretty rare too.  Now it’s time to move it from my collection to yours!
