Over the years, I’ve amassed a collection of old folk art houses of all kinds: birdhouses, putz houses, “just for nice” houses, greenhouses etc.  It has become clear that, as I am downsizing and re-arranging, that I do not have room any longer for all of them. So. It is with regret that I am letting some of them go.

Offered here for your consideration is an early 20th C Log House Birdhouse purchased at auction years ago in Bangor, PA.  Measuring 16 inches by 11 inches and 8 ½ inches high, it sits on a base that measures 19 by 14 inches.  It is entirely hand-made, constructed of hand-hewn logs and ¼ pine board.  The logs still retain their original red paint and the Windsor green trim, roof and base have aged to an almost blackish-green.

It is in excellent condition with some wear consistent with age and use.  There are signs on the underside of the base that it may have been attached to something at one time or another.  If it was displayed out of doors, it must have been in a protected area as there is not a lot of interior wear.

As I stated before, I purchased this one along with another at an estate auction in Bangor, PA years ago.   I sold the other plainer one and kept this for my collection because of its color and construction.  Now, I’ve chosen to pass it on to someone who will love it as much as I have.
