This is a nice old homemade storage box that has been in a stack here in the house.  Measuring 13 ½ inches wide by 8 inches tall by 8 inches deep, it retains its old deep green pain although, judging by the crazing that has exposed the red wash beneath, that paint may not have been original to the piece.  That having been said, it’s been there a long time.  The interesting about this box is the interior that has been papered and varnished and divided into 2 6 by 6 inch compartments.  I don’t know what it held, but when you open the lid of this box, there is a wonderful smoky (like hickory wood) smell that just makes you want to close your eyes and linger there.

This is another nice country piece.  Now I’m sorry I kept it in a stack all these years as the interior is quite wonderful and makes for a great display.
