Whimsical Old Cloth Rabbits

Whimsical Old Cloth Rabbits

This is a vignette I've displayed in my home over the years, so I decided to photograph it as such.

Mama Rabbit stands (either propped or with a doll stand) 13 ¾ inches tall. Her straw-filled torso and limbs are covered in cotton muslin, while her head and paws are made out of a cotton flannel, the nap of which has pretty much worn away with age and love. She wears boots made of a mint green cotton and she still retains her stitched features, as well as her bead eyes although the red color has worn away. She is wearing a late 19th C black and blue calico dress covered by a blue and white checked skirt. She dates to around the first quarter of the 20th century and is in excellent condition with no rips, holes, tears or stains.

Baby Bun stands 7 inches tall and is covered in tan velvet. I believe his shoe button eyes were replaced with the milk glass ones you see now, and his ears appear to be re-attached to his head as well. There are two pin holes where his whiskers used to be. This was a much-loved little guy. His velvet body does retain 99% of its nap, so the loving must have been concentrated to the head area. There is a ½ inch hole in his neck which exposes threads but no stuffing. Dating to the late 19th/early 20th C, this little charmer has personality plus.

Together they make a charming and whimsical vignette.
