Another wonderful feline, also purchased at Atlantic City from the same German toy dealer, this one is just as special as the first one listed.

Measuring 13 inches in length, with the tail comprising about 4 ½ inches of that length , he stands 6 inches tall.  He is covered in a silver mohair, retaining about 98% of it , and is stuffed with straw.  He still retains his orginal glass eyes, fiber whiskers and floss nose and mouth.  He feels like he had a growler at one time, but it has not worked since I owned him.
He also still retains his original “underscored” Steiff ear button.

This sweet creature is jointed and his head and tail move as well as all four limbs.  He dates to roughly the same time period as the other Steiff cat listed: 1905 to 1914.

Condition is excellent.

Again, I can only reiterate that there were not many of these to be found when I was collecting them so very many years ago.  Hence, the rarity in finding them today.

He’s a wonderful example of  art of Margaret Steiff – toymaking at its very best!
