Early 20th C Pennsylvania Cat Hooked Mat

This is a wonderful hooked mat that I’ve owned for a bit.  I’ve always enjoyed the whimsical kitty as well as the fabulous colors: black, tan and salmon! This color scheme makes it a great piece to feature in the autumn.

Measuring 13 inches in diameter, it is hand hooked in cotton and crepe on a burlap ground. It is in excellent condition with nor rips tears or mends.  I did not have it mounted, but if you would like to do so I can supply info on a person that I use.

Quite folky and charming, it was found in southeastern Pennsylvania and dates to the first quarter of the 20th C. I simply don’t find these sweet pieces of folk art anymore. From my collection to yours, it looks great wherever and however it is displayed!
