Old and Loved Amish Horse

Normally I am a stickler for condition but, in the case of this equine, I just had to have her.  I think what drew me to her were the numerous patches and mends indicating just how very much loved she was, probably passed down from one child to the next as each outgrew her.

Barely standing 8 ¼ inches tall, and measuring 11 inches in length, she is fashioned out of a brown cotton twill and stuffed with cotton batting.  Her mane and tail are black cotton floss.  She is constructed in typical Amish fashion with clothes pins used internally as leg supports.  As you can by the photos, she has an abundance of mends and patches, a sign that she was dearly cherished. Miraculously she still retains her ears!

She dates to the late 19th/Early 20th C and was found in Ohio.  She would make an absolutely fabulous study addition to a collection of these wonderful and whimsical creatures.
