Late 19th C Petticoat

This is a very nice late 19th C woman’s double-sided woman’s petticoat.

Measuring 39 inches in length with a 24-inch waist, it is fashioned out of a gray and brown striped heavy cotton twill.  The other is side is black silk and suggests a mourning garment.  It is entirely hand stitched with a vine and leaf pattern running around the hem of the piece.
Condition: the striped side (to me the most important and graphic) is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or tears.  The interior satin side is split in spots where you can see the brown cotton flannel that was used to line the piece.  It is in very stable condition.

I purchased this piece for the bold brown stripe and the patterned quilting at the bottom.  It looks great anywhere it is displayed.

Price: $385
