This is one of those pieces that we don't see too often and when we do, we take a step back and marvel that it survived.

This fabulous copperas and natural stripe linen bed case measures 80 inches long by 59 inches wide. It has been sewn and re-sewn over its lifetime, in a few different threads suggesting that it was heavily used. It also has a few holes attendant with age and use, but the rarity of the weave and color far outweigh a few condition problems.

Once part of my collection, this piece has been documented as part of the survey (done by Doris & Bill Hoag) of Pennsylvania patterned homespun linen and was found to be the only one of its kind with respect to color and width of stripe, as well as construction.

This is a piece for the advanced collector/student of early Pennsylvania homewoven fabrics.
