A nice folk art piece, this hanging pin cushion has got it all: original mustard paint with great patina, nice shape and form, and a carved heart!! What more could we ask for?

The front: Measuring 8 inches in length by 5 inches at its widest, it is made out of ½ inch pine which still retains its original mustard paint that has developed nice crazing and patina. The attached pin cushion measures 3 inches square and is covered in red velvet which shows signs of wear in spots attendant with age and use. It appears to be stuffed with cotton batting.

There are two hooks protruding below the applied heart, and there are two holes on either side of them which would indicate that, at one time, there were probably four.

The back: On the back there is evidence of both embossed and incised lettering. However, the thickness and quality of the board of which it's made suggest a box or crate made of a very good pine than that of most crates.

Overall condition is excellent. It was purchased years ago on the northern borders of Monroe County, PA and is a fabulous crossover piece for the sewing/folk art collector!
